About the Iceberg Meme
A cross-section photograph that splits the frame at the waterline. Above: a small white peak of ice jutting out against a blue sky with wispy clouds. Below: the full submerged body of the iceberg, at least five times larger than the tip, glowing in shades of deep blue and teal against the dark ocean. The composition hammers the metaphor home visually. What you see above the surface is almost nothing compared to what lurks underneath.
A stunning cross-section photograph of an iceberg showing the small white tip visible above a bright blue ocean surface and the enormous submerged mass below. The image illustrates the "tip of the iceberg" metaphor literally. Top text labels the visible, public-facing part of something. Bottom text reveals the hidden, much larger reality underneath. For another surface-vs-depth comparison, see Expanding Brain (escalating levels). For revealing what is hidden behind a smile, see Hide the Pain Harold.
How to Make a Iceberg Meme
- The iceberg photograph is loaded in full portrait orientation, showing both the visible tip and the massive underwater section
- Top text goes near the small visible tip: this is what the outside world sees. Bottom text goes over the submerged mass: this is the hidden depth or effort
- The image is tall (1280x1944), so your top text will be near the sky and your bottom text will be deep in the dark blue water. Use the vertical space
- White text with black stroke reads against both the bright blue sky at the top and the dark blue depths at the bottom
- Download the full iceberg as a tall PNG image, or copy and share it to reveal what's below the surface
